Southdown FC

Formed in 1969, originally as a Boy Scout football team, Southdown Football Club is the oldest established football club in Mid Sussex. A girls section was added more recently and the club now forms an important and integral part of the surrounding community.  This has become even stronger following Southdown FC and Burgess Hill Town FC forging an on-going close working relationship. PLUS the recent (Dec17) partnership between Southdown Football Club and Burgess Hill Cricket Club which is encouraging both club's young members, boys and girls, to play football and cricket during the year! (see News page for more details)

From its constitution, the Southdown Football Club's primary objective is to provide youth football coaching & training for boys and girls from an introductory level to that of advanced, enabling players to be suitably trained to participate in football related activities at their appropriate level of competence.

Based in Burgess Hill, West Sussex the club have their own Club House located at Leylands Park Pavilion, adjacent to Burgess Hill Town FC's stadium.  Home matches take place here as well as at West End Meadows (The Brooks) plus utilising other local pitches & training facilities as required.

For the current 2017-18 Season Southdown FC has Boys teams playing at 6 age groups (U8,U9,U11,U12,U13 + U17) and Girls teams playing at 2 age groups (U12 +U14).  In addition there is the U6 Minors Development Squad for boys and girls looking to get started in football.  All teams play in local Sussex Leagues and have enjoyed recent successes across a number of teams at both league and cup levels.  The coaching methods adopted by the Club are as per the FA Coaching Level 1 and 2 Systems working within the FA current guidelines of 5/7 a-side Mini Soccer, 9v9 format and 11 a-side matches.    All managers, coaches and committee members give their time freely and are volunteers for this non-profit making organisation.  This consists mostly as parents of children playing within the Club which is how the Club has developed so successfully over the years.  More volunteers are always welcome to assist us at all levels.  All child facing Club members go through the regular DBS process and the club is working through the process to become Charter Club status.

The Club currently have over 100 children signed up for this season but we are usually on the lookout for new players for most teams/age groups so thank you for visiting our site and feel free to contact us (see Contacts page or click on the team you would be interested in).
