Southdown Under 16s channelled Denmark at Euro ‘92 by winning the Broadbridge Heath 6-a-side tournament on Monday after receiving a last minute call up.
After 10 years, it was the first tournament the team had won despite coming close on a number of occasions. Having drawn the first game 1-1, Southdown went on to win their next 4 games including vital wins against Broadbrodge Heath (1-0) in the group stages and Billingshurst (1-0) in the final.
Everyone in the team played their part but George Gladding in particular was superb on the day and scored both goals in those crucial matches. For the team it is now onto footgolf and the end of season awards on Sunday!
Well done boys!
